Learn about our August artist, Ayella Grossman from Erin:
1. How did you come up with the idea for this drawing that is included inside the calendar.
At the time this photograph was taken, I was still in University and photography was a hobby for me. There was very seldom much planning that went into my photographs. I had my camera with me all the time and photographed what I saw and loved.
2. Why do you like drawing/painting or taking pictures?
Still today I love capturing the world around me. Seeing something beautiful or inspiring and setting up the camera to capture an image that savours and conveys it to others.
3. How did you feel when you heard your artwork was selected for the TGIF Calendar?
10 years ago when I contributed to the calendar, it was the year after my father, Earl Grossman, passed away. My dad had been one of the biggest sellers of the calendar when he was alive. Being published as the artist in the calendar was a great way to honour his life and memory.
4. How has the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario assisted you and/or your family?
My sister was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and SB&H has been a big support for her in her life. It's also meant a lot to our family to help raise money for the organization in hopes of helping other families. It's a great honour to be able to be helping to support the organization again.
